About the performance:
- The action: walking around naked, though covered with a burka/like garnment made of receipts.
- Like Louise bourgeois made a woman garnment for the men to wear in a performance in the seventies as a confrontation loaded at that time by gender identity and oppression…  I make a garnement which connects us to a culture in which the woman are obliged to hide herself in a full covering garnment so that the man do not get aroused (so they say), or maybe they get aroused as hidden women shapes give them free leave to there imagination ?

The act of walking around naked only protected by a burka/like garnment made of receipts, arouses in me feelings of vulnarability and strength at the same time. I dare to do an action in the powerfull art institution without being invited or having cleared it in advance, leaving the receiving of the action to a higher power… making an offer/like ritual onto the alter to power of arts and monney.

I went out by this nice sunny evening to hang up the hammocks between the center  pillars under the beautiful Warschauer bridge. I quickly found out that my idea of filming the horizon rise sitting on the hammock was not possible because the high houses had allready rosen before the sun…

So I went along to the East side gallery close by. There I had som nice  meetings with two persons, Konifacio Casuga from the Philipines and Takuya Okamoto from Japan.

The film shows the performance in Tiergarten in Berlin on saturday december 18.
This film version lasts 1mn46 s. I switched on the rapid button in editing. The real speed of the action is 35 mn. If you are interested in seeing the original film you can take contact on aaa(at)abtffn.com.
Here on this version you can see a lot of different things moving at different speeds like my trembling body is the movement of my breathing as I lay in the white hammock stretched between the trees over the white snow.

“As I lay on the hammock filming, the vision of the Andy Warhol film “Empire” came to me. Maybe I should not speed up my film and rather slow it down ? Anyway, I kind of stretch further on  the observation as  Warhol did with his film…

He films the time changing slightly by the light darkning the picture with the steady shape of the Empire state building.

I film the earth movement holding the camera, sitting in the hammock. In my video everything moves not because I make it move, but on the contrary, I hold the camera as steady my body is able to and then I am able to move the camera by holding it steady on the sun and in that way  catch the earth movements. The camera becomes a tool, an earth-movement-catcher. It also shows other movements, the people on it, the cars, my own breathing movements in the steady but hanging hammock, the trees passing in front of the sun.. “

Jeg er i Berlin for å gjennomføre performance prosjektet “ÅÅÅ et dykk i Universet Berlin”

Performancen har form av flere handlinger i perioden november og desember:

Om performancen:

“I en tid da de lærde forkynte at jorda var universets sentrum, la Galileo Galilei (1564-1642) fram forbløffende bevis for et heliosentrisk verdensbilde. Den geniale vitenskapsmannen ble hyllet som en helt av mange, men i den katolske kirkens øyne var han en kjetter.

Hva gjør Galilei når kirken truer med å sette makt bak truslene? Skal han svikte alt han tror på, eller holde på sitt uansett hvor høy prisen blir?
Noen år tidligere hadde Giordano Bruno nektet å trekke tilbake liknende uttalelser. Han endte sitt liv i flammene.”

Teksten over står i National teaterets nettsiden som presentasjon av teaterstykket GALILEO av Bertolt Brecht som vises disse måneder.

Samtidig, vandrer jeg i Berlin bærende på hvite hengekøyer, en av dem tett pakket som en bylt på hodet, på leting etter steder der jeg kan henge opp hengekøyene og som egner seg til å observere horinsonten, trær og hus stige opp foran solen om kvelden, se jordens
bevegelser. Jeg inviterer publikum til å sitte og til å ligge i hengekøyene  for  å oppleve jordens rotasjoner og å erfare tyngdekraften, og se landskapet og bylandskapet mørkne.

Handlingen finner sted kun ved helt klart vær.

En første handling fant sted søndag 21 november.

Ifølge værmeldingen vil de neste handlinger vil finne sted fredag 10 og kanskje lørdag 11 december 2010 .

I am in Berlin to do the performance: “ÅÅÅ a dive in the Universe Berlin”

The performance is composed of several actions and find place in november and december 2010.

About the performance:

“In the time when the intellectuals preaches about the earth being the center of the Universe, Galileo Galilei (1564-1642) presented astonishing proof telling about an heliocentrical world picture. Many praised the scientist as a hero above heroes, but in the catholic church’s eyes he was an imposteur.
What did Galilei do when the church threatened him to persecute him ? Should he betray all what he believed in, or hold on to his knowledge in spite of the high price to pay ? Some years earlier Giordanni Bruno had refused to denied similar knowledge. He ended his life in the flames.”

The text is to be found on the Norwegian National Thearter‘s webbsite as a presentation of the play GALILEO by Bertolt Brecht which is on this last 2 months.

At the same time, I am walking in Berlin carrying white hammocks, well packed looking like sculptures, one of them on my head, looking for places where to hang them so to watch  the horizon, the trees and the houses raise before the sun in the evening.
I invite the public to sit or to lay down in the hammocks, to experience the earth’s rotation movements and the gravity force and to see the landscape and the townscape darken.
The actions are finding place by clear weather.

The next actions ones will be december, friday10, saturday 11 and sunday 12 following the weather report long time predictions.

Thanks to the Stavanger municipality’s Artist residency in Berlin, a great suport in the making of the performance project !
